In 2015, 2 students from e-Education Project have successfully passed the exam into the University of Indonesia, one of the best in the country! We would like to film their stories and share with many people such as supporters and students under the similar difficult background, believing their stories shall encourage them to challenge for dreams!

Want to share the “Miracle Stories of UI” by making a documentary film!

Rapidly growing country, Indonesia. The ASEAN headquarter is located in Jakarta, and the skyrocketing buildings represent its remarkable economic growth.
But do you know there are children left behind under this development?

We, e-Education Indonesia Project work for delivering the best education support to those students in need.

Our project takes place in a city called Depok on the southern border of Jakarta. There are many traffics and shopping malls, restaurants around, and it seems like it’s a developed city. But in the corner of the main street connecting Depok with Jakarta, there is a very simple school made of containers called “Master School”.

添付① 学校2

This school is run by volunteer teachers and classes are provided free for those students who cannot go to ordinary school because of their financial difficulty. From elementary to high school, all students learn in the same facility, divided by time.

Although it’s free, since most of the students here go to school while working to support their families, it is inevitable they have difficulties in catching up with the classes, not to mention, going to universities for better job / life opportunities.

You might be surprised to learn that Indonesia is a country that values largely on educational background, and competitiveness for going to university is one of the hardest in the world. Many parents spend a lot of money for sending their kids to private cram school for better education. However, you can imagine how hard it would be for students who go to Master School with free education.

Here at Master, we started support for study for the entrance exam for university since 2013. Our project materials are “DVD lessons”. We cooperated with the students from University of Indonesia for shooting the learning contents and put them into DVDs so students could learn anytime, over and over again.

Master School was already fully equipped with PCs supported by another NGO, so that’s how students utilized our materials.

Though these supports, Master students gradually gained confidence and started to aim for the top university, University of Indonesia.

One, because it’s located near from the Master School, and two, because the top universities have better scholarship programs and that would really help students with financially difficult background. But most of all, they wanted to become like those university brothers and sisters, always supporting them, encouraging them to study.

Since our project start, first year exam day came in June, 2014.

What do you think the result was?! We had 4 students passing for the school called UNJ, the 2nd targeted school! Although no students made it to University of Indonesia, considering the former year result of no one entering into UNJ in 2013, this can be called very remarkable!!

And then the second year exam day came in June 2015…

That year, 2 students from Master School passed the exam into University of Indonesia!!!
It was a “miracle” from free school, and we are glad to have been able to support them to take a chance for their dreams.

One of the students is “Dodo” (in the back of the picture). He has a background of dropping out of high school due to financial problem. However, he could never forget his dream. Wanted to learn at university.

So while working and making money as a street musician and supporting his dad and brother, he continued to study over and over, to pass the entrance exam into the top university!

Another student is “Cyntia” (right in the picture). She took the exam to University of Indonesia in 2014, but failed once. It was not an easy choice for her to continue study with difficult financial background, but she also did not want to give up and determined to challenge next year again.

In the 2nd year challenge, she seized the chance to go to the top university from the free school. Her never giving up mind made anything possible!

Want to invite Dodo and Cyntia to Japan for a movie screening!!

We would love to deliver their miracle stories to as many people as possible!Succeeding this crowdfunding project makes it possible to film their stories in a documentary, and invite them to Japan for the screening!

Why Documentary Film?

e-Education Project has been providing educationally supportive contents in DVDs to students in the rural area in developing countries, where the internet infrastructure is not even stable.
We, by making a documentary film, believe it would help to achieve the following dreams ;

1) Delivering the great stories of the 2 Indonesian students in a form of a documentary film to people in Japan, where e-Education started
2) Contributing to creating hope and mind to challenge against the predicament, by delivering the story in DVD to students in the similar situations in other e-Education Project countries ; such as Bangladesh, Philippines, Myanmar and Nepal

Your kind support would really be appreciated to make our dreams come true!

Why inviting them for a movie screening?

Another very important purpose for the project. By inviting Dodo and Cyntia to Japan for a screening, we would like to create an opportunity for them to see and talk with the supporters face to face.

Seeing supporters, it would be a great chance for them to show appreciation, and knowing that they have supporters outside of their home country always there for help, that sense would give them confidence to continue their paths onwards.

Their documentary film and their experience in Japan shall be passed onto the future generation of Indonesia. Those in the similar, difficult situations, will be encouraged to learn “We can achieve anything if we never give up!” and that, we believe, would nurture the minds of the youngsters, future leaders of Indonesia!

What do we need the fund for?

The fund will be spent on ;
・Making a documentary film (renting equipment for shooting etc) : JPY 500,000
・Inviting 2 students to Japan (Flights, Stay in Japan) : JPY 350,000
・Holding a movie screening (Venue, Printing etc) : JPY 50,000
・Rewards (DVDs, Gifts, etc) : JPY 100,000

Stories of Dodo and Cyntia, we believe for sure, will be encouraging those students in the same, difficult situations. Even under the predicaments, they will learn if they do not give up, there always will be a way opening up.

Please support us to achieve our goal of filming a documentary and inviting Dodo and Cyntia to Japan!!
